Redbox + Video Games

So starting today Redbox gets Video Games, assuming you are near a Redbox that:

  1. Actually has video games
  2. Has the game you want

Now Redbox makes this very convenient.  If you hate Blockbuster and are tired of waiting a month+ to get the game you actually wanted from Gamefly this gives you a nice new option at $2.00 a day per game.  Plus with the number of Redbox machines that are available it will be a smaller drive then to the local video store (assuming they are still even in business). The downside is their stock is comparatively wanting as they do not have the the space to keep both a comprehensive DVD / Blu-ray collection and a big selection / large stock of games.  Combine this with a price at $2.00 a game it is still cheaper to hit at Blockbuster for anything you plan to play for over 3 days, while overall Gamefly is still cheaper on the per day scope of things.  But hey, more places to get games!

Biggest Legend of Zelda Fan?

Normally, I would say my sister is the biggest Zelda fan, I mean come on, her handle name is ZeldaQueen for crying out loud.  However, I think I may have found someone that actually trumps my sister, which is pretty hard to do.  The biggest Legend of Zelda fan is none other than Robin Williams.  Why you ask?  Well he only named his daughter Zelda!  Yes, you read that right, he named his daughter after the princess.  So ZeldaQueen, until you name your firstborn Link or Ganon(dorf), I think Robin Williams has to take the cake for biggest Zelda fan.  Be sure to watch Nintendo 3D's new Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time ad starring Robin Williams.

P.S. Robin Williams' beard if freaking EPIC!

Hail to the King Baby

In 1997 3D Realms started making a game. This game would win many a vaporware award and when the company tanked in 2009 the game was called dead. Little did anyone know a few months later the warlock Randy Picthford at Gearbox Software would perform dark magics learned in Hollywood (where else would you learn dark magics) and resurrected the fallen title.  This game is known as Duke Nukem Forever.  Now 14 years after it was concieved the title has made its way to the public.  Now I don't really have high hopes for this game; that will not stop me from playing it though.  The game is 14 years old (technically) so I will treat it as if it has the maturity of a boy the same age.  Also any company that is willing to stick with one title this long and not just scrap it deserves my time.  This will also be the first full title that I play on OnLive, so here is hoping this all works for the best.

The Gameslave Podcast - Episode 75

E3 has come and gone and we have seen a great many things, now we shall recount what we can remember. Note to self, tell Proteus not to eat ice while we record.

As usual the notes for the week can be found here.

E3 Pictures

So another E3 has come and gone.  The Gameslave crew was on the floor covering what we could (apparently we are not big enough for media passes yet). In the next few days we will have a full write up of our thoughts and opinions about the show, including things such as WiiU (WTF).  In the mean time we have the photos up for the week in the Photos area.  So go ahead and take a look, we have them split in Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3.

The Gameslave Podcast - Episode 74

E3 is just around the corner. What are we going to see there, what are we going to do? We are going to report it all to you great people! This is a short podcast in preperation for E3 and and little talking about Rift.  Keep an eye on @TheGameslave for updates and see you all soon.

I don't really have notes for this show, but you can head to the podcast page if you want to anyway. It is here.

Christmas Eve?

Well, it feels like Christmas Eve right now.  Here shortly The Gameslave crew will board a plane and head down to L.A. for E3.  I guess technically E3 doesn't officially begin until Tuesday, so I suppose that today would be Christmas Eve Eve.  Anyway, it's late and I can't sleep because I'm pretty stoked about getting to go again.  Just hoping this year we will have a better hotel!

Stay tuned for up to date coverage of E3 as we will be posting updates while on the E3 floor and will have write ups after each day of awesomeness.  Game On!

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Release Date

I'm at Gamestop yesterday getting a game for my wife and they had a sheet of release dates on the counter.  Conveniently it was opened to the page with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and a release date of 11/02/2011. Of course I had to ask if this was a Gamestop estimated date or an actual release date, with the answer being an actual release date.  The employee even went as far to show me what the date would have been in Gamestop estimated it.  So there you have it.  We should be able to expect the most recent version of Zelda out for this holiday season, but what else does that mean?  Well unless Nintendo is doing a record release time for an announcement of a new gaming console, this game will not be on the Project Cafe system.  It also means that Nintendo actually has something worth buying this holiday season.  WOOHOO!
