Diablo III Breaks Sales Record

This really did not come as a surprise to me, or just about any one else, but Diablo III has broken the record for PC game sales in a 24 hour period. In the first 24 hours of the game being on sale they sold 3.5 million copies. This number doesn't include the 1.2 million copies that people got with their World of Warcraft annual pass subscription. That means approximately 4.7 million people were ready to play on day 1. Over the next week that number grew to 6.4 million users. Congratulations in the record Blizzard, and in being able to have so many bugs at launch and still have people love you.

Diablo III - Review

20 years ago (12 years in real time) several hero’s destroyed Diablo and his brothers. They made the world safe for human kind once again. But, as with all things, this piece did not last. The end of times has arrived, heralded by a falling star. Now a new generation of heroes have stepped up, some by the need to do good, some to save the innocent, and others following prophecy. But have they arrived in time to save creation? And more importantly, is it any fun to play?

Wii-U Controller Redesign

No surprise here, the first design iteration of the Wii-U tablet controller has changed. Initially it had a control stick setup very similar to the 3DS where it was sunk into the controller and glided around instead of tilted. Well a new image shows two normal analog sticks on both sides. Here is hoping that both sticks are buttons as well, so as to better mesh with the current standard of controllers.

There are a few other cosmetic changes, but the analog sticks are currently the big change we can see. Now the question becomes, will we see a traditional controller that backs up this one?

Random Rumors

It has been some time since I last started a new section on the site. Random Rumors will have rumors that are either A) heard from the gaming industry, B) made up by who ever is writing the article because it sounds interesting, or C) a mix of the two. There is not going to be a true schedule to this section as rumors are random, but it should liven things up.

The first rumor we are going to do is the reason why BioShock Infinite was delayed to 2013. Their are two rumors on this.

This Weeks Geek - The Lost

The day has arrived. Many have installed the cursed data onto their computers, and have since been lost. Their loved ones stopped hearing from them. They don't eat, they don't sleep, the only sign of life is the clicking that emanates from their dens. A highly anticipated game has been released, and it has consumed all. Or at least that is the stereotype that we have believed in for so long. But how many of us are actually swayed in this fashion? How many truly lose themselves to a new game this way?

A soul that has been lost to a game is determined mainly by the observer. We are going to look at two main people in this situation, the gamer and the spouse.

May the 4th be With You

Today was Star Wars day. It was not really the day that Star Wars launched all those years ago, but geeks love their puns. Denver actually has a small celebration for this day at the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum. This year it included getting to sit in an X-Wing, foam lightsabers for kids to fight each other with, and a large number of costumes.  Check the gallery for pictures of the event, or just watch the slide show.
