Wii U Launch Information

And the battle for the Wii U can officially begin on November 18, 2012. You have two differently priced options for this system, they are as follows:

  • Wii U Basic Bundle - $299.99
    • White System
    • 8 GB of Internal Storage
    • 1 White GamePad
    • AC Adapters for both the Wii U and GamePad
    • Sensor Bar
  • Wii U Deluxe Bundle - $349.99
    • Black System
    • 32 GB of Internal Storage
    • 1 Black GamePad
    • AC Adapters for both the Wii U and GamePad
    • Console Stand
    • GamePad Charging Cradle
    • Nintendo Land Game
    • Deluxe Digital Promotion
      • Grants points for digital downloads when can be used for future DLC (planned through 2014).

There you have it, two different systems with two different price points. I honestly don’t see the reason someone will get the Basic bundle over the Deluxe one, but that just means that I am not the target audience of it. They also announced that there will be around 50 games in the launch windows (11/18/2012 - 03/31/2013) for the system to try and make it worthwhile for those early adopters.  Games are going to run around $59.99 each for the Wii U at launch as well. More to come later on which games are planned to come out in this window, but it looks pretty strong, or at least interesting.

That leaves me with two questions.
1) Can Nintendo repeat the success they had with the Wii?
2) Who out there is going to try for a day one (or two) purchase?

Nintendo Press Conference Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the day that Reggie fills us in with the official release date and price point of the Wii U here in North America. The press conference starts at 10:00 AM ET and will be live streamed from here.

Now this starts just in time for me to clock in to my day job, so I will be a tad late on reporting the news to you all, but rest assured it will make its way here.

Darksiders 2 - Review

Death rides again, but not to reap the souls of the dead. This time it is to save his brother War, who doomed all humanity to dust. The Charred Council has given Death a single task to complete and they will forgive War's transgressions. He must restore humanity to Earth. This will not be an easy task, but it is one that he has accepted. So begins the journey to save War.

The CDC Warns of Zombies

So the Center of Disease Control (CDC) is all about saving lives. The best way to save a life is to prepare for a disaster. This can be difficult though. You publish an article about preparing for a tornado or hurricane and they will just gloss right over it. You start talking about preparing for zombies though, that gets peoples attention. To this end the CDC has created a Zombie blog, a graphic novel (attached) and some preparedness posters. You can check out the full thing at the CDC Zombie Apocalypse site.

NDK - It Approaches

Nan Desu Kan's (NDK) sweet 16 is approaching fast. The event starts on September 14th and runs until the 16th. They have a full list of guests (after saying it was finalized several times). They also have the schedule up so you can plan what you are going to hit and when. Finally something new they are doing is a mobile version of the con information. This includes hours, policies, guests, a map, the schedule, and more. Blackberry and Win Mobile users can access it at mobile site while iOS and Android users can download the Guidebook app to have everything in a much smaller (read not a legal size piece of paper) in their pockets.

This brings us to the yearly reminder for all those that are visiting the convention. Since you have not yet seen fit to shed your meat bag bodies for a superior robot one you will have to remember to do three primary tasks. These are eat, drink, and sleep. And when I say this you must eat more then pocky and ramen. You need to drink more then ramune and alcohol, especially if you are not native to high altitudes. That means you need to drink more water and don't become a cheap date since you won't be able to handle your booze near as well as you used to. Finally you need to sleep in a real room, not a viewing room while no one is watching. This will ensure you a great experience at the con instead of a mediocre experience with the EMTs. Lastly help everyone else have a great con and remember to bathe regularly. We don't need to help the smelly geek stereotype thank you very much.

That leaves me with one things left to say.

WOO NDK!
