Wii-U Controller Redesign

No surprise here, the first design iteration of the Wii-U tablet controller has changed. Initially it had a control stick setup very similar to the 3DS where it was sunk into the controller and glided around instead of tilted. Well a new image shows two normal analog sticks on both sides. Here is hoping that both sticks are buttons as well, so as to better mesh with the current standard of controllers.

There are a few other cosmetic changes, but the analog sticks are currently the big change we can see. Now the question becomes, will we see a traditional controller that backs up this one?

Random Rumors

It has been some time since I last started a new section on the site. Random Rumors will have rumors that are either A) heard from the gaming industry, B) made up by who ever is writing the article because it sounds interesting, or C) a mix of the two. There is not going to be a true schedule to this section as rumors are random, but it should liven things up.

The first rumor we are going to do is the reason why BioShock Infinite was delayed to 2013. Their are two rumors on this.

This Weeks Geek - The Lost

The day has arrived. Many have installed the cursed data onto their computers, and have since been lost. Their loved ones stopped hearing from them. They don't eat, they don't sleep, the only sign of life is the clicking that emanates from their dens. A highly anticipated game has been released, and it has consumed all. Or at least that is the stereotype that we have believed in for so long. But how many of us are actually swayed in this fashion? How many truly lose themselves to a new game this way?

A soul that has been lost to a game is determined mainly by the observer. We are going to look at two main people in this situation, the gamer and the spouse.

May the 4th be With You

Today was Star Wars day. It was not really the day that Star Wars launched all those years ago, but geeks love their puns. Denver actually has a small celebration for this day at the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum. This year it included getting to sit in an X-Wing, foam lightsabers for kids to fight each other with, and a large number of costumes.  Check the gallery for pictures of the event, or just watch the slide show.

Response to This Week's Geek - Outgrowing an Interest

Do we outgrow our interests, do we have a change in taste within the interest, or do our tastes change so much that we really do outgrow them and leave to join something new? I’ve been having these thoughts lately about many of my current interests. It has been brought forward again more sharply from Assimilator’s latest This Week’s Geek. Have my tastes really changed in the past few years from things I use to hold dearly and in high esteem? The more I think about it, the more I’m coming to the conclusion, I think they are.

Conversations with IrishPride Episode 19

To Research Or Not To Research...That Is the Question

Hello everybody!  In the words of GLaDOS, I am indeed "Still Alive!"  Welcome to episode 19 of Conversations with IrishPride.  I know, I know, it's been a long time since your eyes had the pleasure of reading useless comments that come out of my brain and onto this page.  Today will be no different as I think I'm going to talk about, I don't know, let's say...Diablo 3?

Sure, let's talk about Diablo 3.  I admit, I'm excited for this game to finally be released.  I absolutely played the crap out of Diablo 2 back in the day, but, I feel I haven't been doing my due diligence on this title.  I haven't been keeping up to date with the progression of the game, I didn't play the open beta (I tried, but for whatever reason, couldn't get the thing to download) and I cannot even tell you the different classes.  Now, I know I will buy Diablo 3 and I will probably enjoy it as well.  My question to all of you out there is this: Should I do some research on the game; look up the different classes and abilities so I'm prepared when the game is launched?  Or, should I continue my current path and not look anything up online and go into the game blind making my choices "on the fly" if you will.  Part of me wants to look at the different classes and abilities so I can prepare how I want to build my first character and to see which one is best.  The other part of me likes the idea of doing no research on the game and simply jump in and see which class/abilities speak to me.  I'll leave it up to you, the beautiful readers of The Gameslave.  So, should I research the different classes or just jump into the game?  Leave your comments below and this is IrishPride, (I am very much alive) signing out.  Until next time, whenever that may be, May the 4th be with you!

This Weeks Geek - Outgrown?

A few weeks ago during a podcast ZeldaQueen said she felt that she may have outgrown anime. This came up after she had started watching Rosario + Vampire which involves a number of panty shots. This got her thinking that most anime is not made for someone her age. With more anime becoming immature and juvenile she feels that the shows being made now are not one's for her. I had to argue with this though. Currently watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, this show is not made for younger audiences. The conversation made me wonder though, what does it really mean to outgrow something?
