Final Fantasy XI: Seekers of Adoulin get a date

Nothing can spell the death of a good MMO like letting it start to stagnant. If a developer stops releasing new content for their game they might as well start making preparation to pull the plug. Well Square Enix is not going to let Final Fantasy XI go that way yet. As of March 26, 2013 Xbox 360 and PC players will have access to the Seekers of Adoulin expansion.

In this new expansion the denizens of the world will find a new adventure to embark on. It is the close of the eighth century and the The Royal Family (some pompous) in partnership wit the Elven Knightly Orders (pompous and aloof) have agreed to abolish imperial rule - from which arose the Sacred City of Adoulin on the Ulbuka Continent.  This cause Adoulin to grow in to a "maritime metropolis" and its mercantile prowess that rivals Jeuno (no clue what that is).  Adoulin will be the new bug that players will find themselves in as they unlock the many secrets hidden in the nearby jungles.

But don't worry, you don't only have a new location, but new jobs!  They have added the geomancer whom harnesses the elemental energy of Vana'Diel® to aid comrades and attack enemies. This sounds like a new caster class. To compliment that they added rune fencers that are "versatile duelists, quick with a blade as well as incantations, and employ the power of arcane runes". Finally they are adding player-built outposts (just me or does "player-built" seem to be very popular now?) and new contract work. Finally they will adding special "power spots" that are hidden throughout the environment for powerful character enhancements.

Now, as you may be able to tell, I don't play this game, at all. But it sounds like the expansion may be at least entertaining. If you thing so as well then you can get the standard pack for $29.99. However they felt the need to add more then that.  Also announced was the "FINAL FANTASY XI: Ultimate Collection Seekers Edition" which will have the stand-alone game with all four past expansion, three add-on scenarios, and three battle add-ons. That is $39.99. And that is all I have to say on this. if you want more then head to http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/adoulin/. Beware the AUTO PLAY MUSIC after the auto play YouTube video though. The pause button in in the upper left.
