The Professional Gamer - January 2, 2015

Hello everyone, and welcome to my first post of 2015.  A new year brings new possibilities for geekiness and fun.  And of course, there are the inevitable Christmas presents to enjoy as well.  Also, in spite of the tight schedule on my project, I was able to take a few days off of work and enjoy myself a bit.  What did I do with my time?  Read on to find out.

Reading: I am still reading through the Return of the King, but at this point have nearly finished.  The Ring has been destroyed and everyone is congratulating themselves.  Our friend, and fellow writer here at the Gameslave, gave me the new Dungeons and Dragons Players Guide.  As often happens when I get a new RPG book, I immediately begin thinking about how cool all the classes are and how much I want to run a game using the new rule set.  We'll see what develops from this in the future.

Watching: Crystal and I received the first two seasons of The Legend of Korra for Christmas, and we have been busy watching the early parts of the series again.  The biggest takeaway that I've had from this, is that the weak points of the show are not as weak as I remember them being.  Maybe I was over critical when I first watched it, or perhaps knowing where the characters are going to end up at the end of the series makes me more forgiving of the shortfalls of the earlier seasons.

Playing: Crystal and I have been playing a significant amount of Hyrule Warriors again.  I feel like we are falling behind in terms of completing the Adventure Maps before the new DLC chapters are released.  I also received Fantasy Life for Christmas, which is so far a great game.  Basically, its Animal Crossing without the annoying time dependent gameplay elements while adding some fun RPG elements, including crafting and levels.  So far, I am enjoying it a lot.  I've got three of the "Life" classes up to the second rank so far, and I'll report back once I have played some more.

That's all I have for this week. Check back in next week to learn more about my geeky activities.  Game on!
