Nintendo Direct - E3 2018

And the last of the big E3 presentations, Nintendo Direct. What will I see and what will I be  utterly disappointment in not seeing (looking at you Metroid Prime 4). That is what this article is all about.

Demon X Machina

Mechs, lots of mechs. They fly, the strafe, they shoot lots of different projectiles, and they have close combat weapons. You also fight mechs larger then you. And that is all they really showed on this one. Could be fun.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country

This game is very very anime in its execution. There are more giant robots, fancy sword and a really big plot that is paramount to the survival of the country! Expect what you normally expect from a Xenoblade game. Also, expect lots of exploration

Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu / Let's Go Evee

The Pokéball plus was introduced. So know you can bring in not only Pokémon that you captured in Pokémon GO, but you can use what looks like an actual pokéball to catch them in game. And when shaken, it makes the noise of the pokémon in it. The device comes with Mew already inside. So that is a pretty neat accessory. I am pretty sure Nintendo now just makes money selling accessories.

Super Mario Party

There are now new and exciting ways to lose friends. Super Mario Party allow you to play the came among multiple switches, but still with four people. And the motion controls on the joy-con are going to play heavily in it. Although I see some fights starting out if too many people "accidentally bump" their friends in the mini games.

Fire Emblem Three Houses

Another super anime game. The cell shaded art work is beautiful in this game. And we can expect another epic story. Combat allows you to set an army or squad's formation to attack. But at it's core, probably can expect what you always get from a Fire Emblem game.

Fortnite

Fortnite on the switch. Still free, just need to download it. Not much else to say on this one.

Overcooked 2

Iron Chef has nothing on these guys. Cook your way through and enjoy local and online multiplayer. Maps change often apparently, and the game has a charm to it.

Killer Queen Black

Looks like an updated Joust with an objective. Gather all the berries, kill your opponents queen, or get the snail to your gate.  What you spawn as looks to set what you can do.

Hollow Knight

An action adventure platformer. I can see people complaining that is is hard, but that is not a bad thing. The hand drawn after looks great. Overall gameplay may be in the vein of Mega Man or Metroidvania style games.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Yes, a new Super Smash Bros game is here. There are a ridiculous number characters to fight with. They brought in every fighter that has been in any previous game. That is 65 different characters (68 if you count the "echo fighters"). The licensing on this might have been a nightmare. But you only start with the small number of character and have to unlock them to give you a sense of progression. Final smashes were changed to be more immediate. Charge moves can now be charged in the air. Just, watch the video, it is worth it.

And they are allowing the use of GameCube controllers. Looks like I am never getting rid if those. Amiibos will work for characters regardless of what series it comes from, as long as the character is in the game.  Safe to say I am going to buy this on 12/7/2018.
