It has been 3 years since we heard from Bungie. They made Halo: Reach and then left Microsoft for Activision. Since then we have been left wondering, what is going to be their next big thing. What are they going to do in order to surpass the legacy that they left with Halo? That question has now been answered with Destiny. But what is Destiny, and more importantly, should we care?
So I am in the 1%. No, not the financial 1%, that would be nice, but no. I am in the 1% of people that are not super excited about Modern Warfare 3 coming out tonight at midnight. But that does not mean that I don't respect the fandom. I went to a GameStop by my work to take care of a preorder and found a line of 6 people. This was A) 3:00 PM and the events for the night did not start until around 10:00 PM and B) It was about 45˚ F and dropping to an estimated 26˚F by midnight. To me this a a great devotion of the fandom to the series and something that shows what it means to be true hardcore gamer.
So while I may not be playing the game tonight or tomorrow, I do salute you Moder Warefare 3 gamer. You are a true gamer and you help keep this industry alive so I may play the games I am looking forward to. GAME ON!

You may have heard about this small game that is in the works for 11/08/2011 called Modern Warfare 3. Now normally I would let IrishPride report on this as it is not my type of game, but this one looks a bit interesting. Also I felt that we should actually say something about what is bound to be one of the most anticipated games of the year. This time it looks to take place all over the world in American and European cities during what is (lets see if you guessed this one) World War 3. The trailer does look pretty awesome, so give it watch, and then let me know what you think.
So a while back it was reported that Activision was done with the Guitar Hero franchise. That it had stopped being the money maker they wanted it to be, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda. Well goes to show that some times people jump the gun. What they really meant to say, or at least what Activision's Dan Winters told GameIndustry.biz, is that they are just placing the series on hiatus for a bit. That they are not planning a game for this year due to an over saturation in a fickle console market. This means we may not see a Guitar Hero game this year or next year, but maybe the year after. Good news is though they have a vault of content to release and will use this to support their loyal fans. So rock on you plastic guitar rock gods.
As many of you know, the newest Call of Duty: Black Ops was released this past Tuesday, November 9, 2010. Well, Activision was happy to announce that the popular franchise's latest installment has sold a staggering 5.6 million copies in the United States and the United Kingdom on the first day! The larger number is that the total revenue generated was $360 million. This was a solid increase over their last entry, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which sold a respectable 4.7 million copies and a total revenue of $310 million on its first day.
I think it's safe to say, baring an unforeseen monumental collapse, the Call of Duty franchise is stronger than ever and FPS fans should expect quality shooters, both single player and multiplayer, for many years to come.
