Anyway, today I'm going to talk about Steve Jobs. I, like Assimilator, am not a Macintosh user. I do own an iPod Touch, but I use that mostly for games and not music. My primary music device is a Zune, which I love. I also am an avid Window's user, but I would be a fool to try and state that Steve Jobs and Apple didn't revolutionize the way we see technology today.Ahh YouTube. Without you I might have to actually wait for a game to be released before seeing the opening cinema of a game. So fresh from Nintendo Japan we give you Zelda!
I do not use a Macintosh computer. I do not have an iPhone or iPad. But that does not mean that I do not appreciate what Apple did to the technology world under Steve Jobs. While an avid Windows user I normally refuse to admit that Apple has done much for me, but they did force innovation. Steve Jobs was the motivation behind this innovation. So RIP Steve, you have left a legacy that has made you immortal.
It is the 40,000 millennium, the grim far future, and there is only war. The game begins with an alert about an Ork invasion on the forge world of Graia. Several options are suggested, but due to the fact that the Titan Invictus is currently on this planet they are not able to just scour the planet from orbit, and they cannot wait for a fleet to come and help. This is where Captain Titus (you), Sidonus, and Leandros come into play. These three are Space Marines, Ultramarine chapter. It is up to them to take down the Orks and protect the Titan until reinforcements arrive. These three are a good choice for this. As they go in they know there is nothing down there they cannot handle. A few thousand Orks can be taken care of in a few weeks if they had the time. Thus you use jump packs to enter the fray. Talk about a way to make an entrance.
Another week, another successfully recorded and posted episode of The Gameslave Podcast.
As usual the podcast notes can be found on the podcast page.
Browsing through the latest Hobbit news, I discovered this little gem. An art student from Germany has handcrafted a version of The Silmarillion in the style of the medieval illuminated manuscript. The illustrations and craftsmanship are amazing. This book is truly one of a kind.
What does it mean to be a gamer in this day and age? In the past to be a gamer you just had to play video games. This was when being a gamer required you to either have a home console or PC and play either solo or have friends come over. If you were a PC gamer it also meant you knew a thing or two about computers. If a game was online, it took effort. But soon gaming has became accessible and wide spread. Now the fact that a gamer was just someone that played games, the term needed a division for clarification. Those that had been playing games when the hobby was difficult needed a way to make themselves seem special to all the newer players, so they termed the gamers that played easy games; games that take little to no skill; as casual gamers and the original gamers then labeled themselves hardcore gamers. This title gave them a sense of pride and arrogance over the newcomers to the gaming world, but it has been awhile since these terms were created and just as gaming has evolved, these terms need to evolve as well.
